Using the Chipboard Frame & Overlay I was able to make a personalized gift for my husband, that will be decor in our cabin.
My husband, Brian can build some pretty cool things. In fact, he usually builds me what ever I ask for. He has built me a farm house table, a nightstand, and rustic entry tables to name a few. He really enjoys working with wood and wanted to mark the items he builds. So we sat down and designed a brand, with our initials that he can use.
But now his building skills have moved to building us an off grid cabin on some land we purchased. We are calling our land “Little Bit”. Still with our initials, but it’s our Little Bit. A place we can call our own to go and relax and just get away.
I wanted to make something to put in the cabin to show this. The Chipboard Frame & Overlay from Close to My Heart was the perfect option. The overlay is two sided – the gray wood look or a brown wood look. I used a piece of shiplap looking paper for the inset which will match the shiplap I want on the inside of the cabin. Using my Cricut I was able to create this art piece in no time.
When you purchase the Chipboard Frame & Overlay from CTMH, you get what is show above. For just $19.95 you get a sturdy chipboard frame with a double-sided paper overlay (see the brown side in the photo above, or gray side is what I used). Exterior frame is 16×16 with inside dimensions at 11.5×11.5.
How I made my project!
First I assembled the overlay by putting the paper overlay on the square piece of the frame.
Using my Cricut I cut the outside words and circle using black iron on (yes iron on!)
I used my Cricut Easy Press 2 to add the Black Iron on to my piece of shiplap paper.
Once the iron on was on my paper, I put it back on my Cricut Mat and used Snap Mat in the Cricut iphone app to use my Cricut Pen to write our initials. (See how to use Snap Mat)
Once my inset was done I added it to the chipboard back, and placed the square frame over the top.
This project was so quick and easy to make, and my husband loved it.
